Homework Expectations

The primary purpose of homework is practice, an extension of the day’s work, time to work on long-term projects or an investigation of something for class discussion, not introduction of a new skill. Students should be able to complete it independently. If unable to complete an assignment independently, please notify your teacher. 7th—8th grade teachers work together as a team to plan for approximately one hour nightly, unless a student opts to take on extra courses or enrichment, such as language, algebra, music, band, etc.

Language Arts & Social Studies 10/1/14

Language Arts:  Reading Journal checks are every Thursday.  For 10/9/14, students need to read 60 pages and write a one page summary of their reading.  In addition, students need to identify the point-of-view their book is written in.  Please be aware that all students read for 15 - 20 minutes in school each day.  Getting into the habit of reading for at least 15 minutes before bed should help students meet the 7th grade independent reading requirement, not to mention all the other wonderful benefits of reading!

Social Studies:  Iceman/Ice Maiden presentations continue.  Students worked hard on these over four class periods, and we're looking forward to enjoying their presentations!
